Lexeco | Advocaten emerged from the legal practice of Mr. Marc Van Passel. He was admitted to the Bar in 1977 and soon created a practice with several associates. From the beginning, supported by his spouse Hilde who obtained her law degree as well, a system of extensive quality control in a scope of uniformity of working had been created.

The initial trend towards specialization goes back to the end of the seventies when Marc Van Passel was appointed as a trustee in bankruptcy and when the first courses and publications on environmental law appeared. In the same period, Nicole Huybrechts joined the team as head of administration and accountancy. A task she has completed to this very date.

Ilse Cuypers joined the law firm to enforce the environmental law branch, first as associate, consequently as partner. Since the mid-eighties, the law firm had already created a well-balanced corporate clientele in the field of tax law, environmental law and corporate law. In the same period, the office management has developed using all modern technologies in an integrated computer-network.

Since 1989, the constant quality team of attorneys, supported by a performing administration, has moved to a modern and functional office in the heart of Antwerp at the Frankrijklei 146.

In a time where corporations supersede national boundaries, the law firm is a founding member of Euroadvocaten, a distinguished European network of medium-sized law firms, which operate in all European commercial cities. Since 1991, the law firm has been serving her clientele on a European scale as well as being a contact point for foreign corporations, which have interests in the Flemish region.

In 1999, the law firm has chosen to use a commercial name: Lexeco | Advocaten. “Lex-eco” resulted from a reflection on the present evolution of the economic reality, the increasing legal intertwining corporate relations and the relation between economy and ecology. In the future Lexeco | Advocaten remains focused on her mission to act as a pro-active business partner supporting her clientele.

Since 2009 Lexeco has an office in Kortrijk, close to Lille (France), providing services in West and East Flanders and Hainaut (Wallonia).
